Sunflower Girasol Project – Solar Photovoltaic Power
“Girasol” is translated as Sunflower

This project consists in the research and development of a portable prototype that generates photovoltaic energy with an active solar tracking system in cases of disaster or emergency.
The Sunflower Project is supported by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) of Mexico.
Background
The current PV generation systems are:
- Difficult to transport.
- Systems of complex installation.
- Expensive.
- Do not respond in an emergency situation.
- Systems of large proportions.
- Do not have an optimal performance.
Our Product
Portable:
The Sunflower is easily transported to any point.
Autonomous:
The Sunflower does not require any other energy sources to operate.
Performance:
The Sunflower meets the needs of our market.
Compact:
The sunflower has a design that maximizes space.
Resistant:
The sunflower endures adverse weather and environmental conditions.
Power:
The Sunflower generates more than 300 watts per hour.
Elements of the Sunflower
- Active Solar Tracking System in order to guide our cells to the best view of sunlight.
- Control software, which allows the remote control of the Sunflower in order to verify information such as power generation, location of the plant, failures, remote shutdown of the plant, etc.
- Next-generation deep cycle batteries for energy storage.
- Monocrystalline solar panels, that generates 85 watts of power each one.
- Voltage regulator, to protect equipment from power surges.
- Inverter, for converting direct current from solar panels to alternating current.
- Aluminum structure to provide strength and protection to the equipment.
Expected Benefits
The expected benefits are focused on two areas:
- The development and innovation of new technology in the area of renewable energy.
- The development of a portable prototype power plant for emergency situations.
